Fancy Marketing Gimicks? I think I Would Rather Have Some Tea


If you are like me, you have chosen to pursue a career in marketing and you are presented with some rather negative comments from non-marketing minded folks: “Marketing is all about lying” or “The only reason to have marketing is to get people to buy useless crap that they don’t need” or “Isn’t marketing just a bunch of people sitting around thinking up TV commercials?” While I understand where they are coming from, I often think about all of the wonderful things, as marketers, we have the power to do.

One of my favorite things about marketing is that you can spread the word about hard-working people, non-profits, socially responsible companies and more. That is why I am taking the time today, as a marketer, to promote the book “Three Cups of Tea”. Not only is it a phenomenal read but the cause behind it is truly inspirational. If you haven’t read it, pick up a copy today and I promise you won’t be disappointed.

And really, at the end of the day, wouldn’t it be great if marketers saved the world?
